Delmar Waite In 1995, Delmar Waite escaped from the hustle and bustle of Oahu, where he was born and raised, and found a little corner of paradise here on Lana'i. Little did he know that he would be jump-starting a career that would last for more than 13 years.

For Del, as his friends call him, massage isn't just a profession. It is a passion. Though he is well trained in variations of therapeutic massage, (Swedish, Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi, etc) his pleasure comes from knowing that he is helping the person laying on his massage table.

Everyone knows the greatest benefit of massage is tension and stress relief. Though some people see massage as just a luxury, others know that there are major benefits to massage. Massage can decrease anxiety and respiratory rates and simulate lymph flow, which enhances the bodies natural defenses or immune system. Research has found that massage reduces the heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and in most cases can alleviate pain from migraine headaches. People who receive regular massages benefit by increased blood circulation and improvement in range of motion and joint flexibility. Massage can also stimulate weak, inactive muscles, and help compensate partially for any lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury.

Simply put, the human touch is healing. There is no denying the power of bodywork, regardless of any of the words we assign to it, (such as, pampering, therapy or rejuvenation) or the reasons we have for getting it done (like a special occasion, or stress and pain relief).

Del takes the time, as all great therapists should, to get to know his clients on a personal level. He does this, not just because he is a nice guy, but to better understand how he can help them further with his massage work. As a husband and proud father of two, Del has perfected the art of listening and anticipating needs. You'll be hard pressed to find a massage therapist here more attentive and knowledgeable in this profession then Delmar Waite.
